Evaluation of the Early Childhood Consultation Partnership

Overview

This project was conducted through a contract with the Connecticut Department of Children and Families' (DCF) in response to their Request for Proposal entitled Early Childhood Behavioral Health Services: Mental Health Consultation to Childcare. The purpose of the project was to evaluate the implementation and impact of a program of support for behavioral health to classrooms and centers. The goals of the project were to improve the social and emotional climate for all children in these classrooms and to improve the ability of teachers to work with children who presented behavioral challenges.

Accomplishments

  • Data was collected in order to assess the fidelity to project design, the impact of the project, and to make recommendations for project improvement.
  • Data was collected through surveys of the consultants and early childhood teachers, case studies, and copies of consultant documentation of project activities.
  • A final report was completed that includes recommendations for improving consultation.
