Connecticut Family Support Network
The goal of the Connecticut Family Support Network was to provide grassroots opportunities for the development of an effective, comprehensive statewide family support network for families who have a child with a disability or special need. The network defined family support as "whatever it takes for a family to be successful in raising their child in their home and community."
The project funded five regional family support initiatives. Each of these projects was family driven, focused on building local networks to meet local needs, and participated in the legislatively-mandated Connecticut Family Support Council. Each site worked in partnership with local agencies and service providers.
- This network addressed four need areas:
- strengthening the Connecticut Family Support Council
- building and strengthening grassroots and local family support networks
- developing and implementing a statewide family support network
- encouraging diverse participation in the family support network
This project was funded through a grant from the Administration on Developmental Disabilities
