Interdisciplinary Pre-service Preparation and Continuing Education
The Center meets the DD Act requirements for providing interdisciplinary pre-service preparation and continuing education of students and fellows, including the preparation and continuing education of leadership, direct service, clinical, or other personnel to strengthen and increase the capacity of States and communities. The majority of the our activities for this core function address continuing education and our interdisciplinary pre-service preparation activities are carried out through the Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) grant. Community Services - Training, Technical Assistance, and Services
The Center provides community services by using a variety of methods, including training, technical assistance, and demonstration activities. Much of this work is focused on providing education and support that promotes community access and responsiveness to the needs of individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. Specific efforts are made to ensure that individuals with developmental disabilities from racial and ethnic minority backgrounds and their families are included in the community service efforts.
We emphasize translational work in community service efforts and carry out a variety of projects and activities across the life span. For more information, visit Core Function: Community Services - Training, Technical Assistance, and Services.
Research
The Center conducts research mainly using applied, evaluation, and/or policy research methods and is effective in leveraging funds to carry out research-related activities. Our research addresses a number of areas, including the evaluation of early intervention service coordination models for special populations, such as infants and toddlers and families who are homeless; in foster care; recently adopted; effected by fetal alcohol syndrome; and/or are economically, linguistically and culturally underrepresented in the state early intervention system. For more information, visit Core Function: Research.
Dissemination
The Center disseminates information related to its activities by developing multiple types of materials in a variety of venues thereby translating research into practice. We disseminate information through our website, which proves up-to-date information on all of our projects, products and personnel. Publications developed by the projects are made available through the site. For more information, visit Core Function: Dissemination.
