Directions To The Center

 

The A.J. Pappanikou Center for Developmental Disabilities is located in Suite 181 at The Exchange Office Park located at 270 Farminton Ave in Farmington, CT.

Our offices are situated in the northeast section of the Town of Farmington along Farmington Avenue (Route 4) about 1 mile (5 minutes) from Interstate I-84. The Exchange office complex is directly across the street from the University of Connecticut Health Center main campus entrance.


From Bradley International Airport
Follow Route 20 to I-91 South to I-84 West in Hartford. Follow I-84 West about 7 miles to Exit 39 which is after 39A. Turn right at the first traffic light onto Route 4 East (Farmington Avenue). At third traffic light, turn left to enter the Exchange complex. Proceed to the first stop sign and turn left into the parking area. Building Four is the first building on the right (there is no sign) as you drive into the parking lot. Enter the Exchange building through the door for Building Four (see aerial map below). Our offices are in Suite 183 just inside the entrance on the first floor.


From Farmington Center
Stay on Route 4 East/Farmington Avenue. As you drive up the hill toward I-84, stay in the right lane and follow the signs as Route 4 East/Farmington Avenue loops to the right and crosses the I-84 access road. At the fourth traffic light, turn left into The Exchange office complex. Proceed to the first stop sign and turn left into the parking area. As you drive into the parking area, the Building Four entrance (no sign) is the first building on the right. Enter the Exchange through the door for Building Four (see aerial map below). Our offices are in Suite 181 just inside the entrance on the first floor.


From West Hartford Center
Stay on Farmington Avenue/Route 4 West. The Exchange office complex is about 3.3 miles on the right just past the Mobil station and directly across from the UConn Health Center main entrance. Turn right into the Exchange from Farmington Avenue and proceed to the first stop sign. Turn left into the parking area. Building Four is the first entrance on your right as you drive into the lot. Enter the Exchange through the door for Building Four (see aerial map below). Our offices are in Suite 181 just inside the entrance on the first floor.


From Route 44 Canton/Avon Proceed on Route 44 eastbound through Avon. Turn right onto Route 10 South/Waterville Road. Turn left onto Talcott Notch Road and continue to Farmington Avenue/Route 4 West. Turn right onto Farmington Ave; the Exchange office complex is a 1/4 mile on the right just past the Mobil Station. Proceed to the first stop sign and turn left into the parking area. Building Four is the first entrance on the right as you drive into the parking lot. Enter the Exchange through the door for Building Four (see aerial map below).Our offices are in Suite 181 just inside the entrance on the first floor.


From I-84 (East or West)
Take Exit 39 (if coming from I-84 West, Exit 39 is after 39A). Turn right at the first traffic light onto Route 4 East (Farmington Avenue). At the third traffic light, turn left to enter the Exchange. Proceed to the first stop sign and turn left into the parking area. From Northbound Route 9
Take Exit 32 (left exit) onto I-84 West and stay in the right lane. Take Exit 39 (first exit). Turn right at the first traffic light onto Route 4 East (Farmington Avenue). At the third traffic light, turn left to enter the Exchange. Proceed to the first stop sign and turn left into the parking area. Building Four (which has no sign) is the first entrance to the right as you drive into the parking area. Enter the Exchange through the door for Building Four (see aerial map below). Our offices are in Suite 181 just inside the entrance on the first floor.


Parking
Ample parking is available anywhere in the lot immediately outside our offices as denoted with a circled P in the aerial map above. Please refrain from parking in spaces designated as patient parking unless you are a patient. Individuals visiting for meetings, training sessions, classes, etc. should not park in patient parking.

Traveling by Bus
The Exchange Office Complex is accessible from the Farmington Avenue bus lines which serve the UConn Health Center campus. These lines are E, E1, E6, E7 and F. To obtain additional information and schedules, please contact CTTransit at 860.525.9181 or visit the CTTransit web site.

Early Childhood initiatives at the UCEDD focus on evidenced based practices and learning outcomes.   We provide training and technical assistance to early interventionists, teachers, therapists, service coordinators, policy makers and families on a variety of areas including social competence, early literacy, early childhood outcomes, service coordination practices, and evidenced based intervention practices.

School Age initiatives at the UCEDD focus on the inclusion of children with disabilities in typical school and community life. We provide training and technical assistance to families, school personnel and community members in a variety of areas including the special education process, inclusive education, adapted curriculum, assistive technology, disability awareness and person-centered planning.

Adult initiatives at the UCEDD focus on including people with disabilities in their communities.  We provide training and technical assistance to individuals with disabilities, state agencies, service providers and other community members in a variety of areas including the hiring of personal assistants, accessible transportation, emergency preparedness and response, and health care.
