Case Management Standards Development
The A.J. Pappanikou Center collaborated with the Department of Mental Retardation (DMR) to develop quality job standards for people working as case managers, support brokers, and advocates. This process was completed over a seven-month period (November 2001--June 2002).
Final Update:
In June 2002 work was completed on the draft of the Quality Job Performance Standards for case managers employed through the Department of Mental Retardation (DMR). In collaboration with DMR, staff from the A. J. Pappanikou Center completed focus groups and surveys with four stakeholder groups, including case managers, families of people who receive case management services, people who receive case management services, and private providers.
The primary goal was to identify skills and behaviors of high quality case management services and to incorporate these into a standardized document that could be used for multiple purposes within DMR. The information gathered from the focus groups was synthesized to form the content of the draft Quality Job Performance Standards for case managers.
